_Lee Big Stopper vs Haida ND3.0 vs Benro ND3.0

6/9/2014

The last weekend I did a fast test of the Benro filters in conjunction with the Haida and Lee Big Stopper, and I used the next material to do the shoots:
  • Canon 40D
  • Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM
  • Benro Holder (portafiltros Benro)
I decided to use the Benro holder on this shoots to test it and I have to say that it didn't work so good, well, very bad I have to say, I don't know if I did something wrong with it but vignetting at 10mm in APS-C is not so good... (you can see the slot in the upper-right corner) in a next article I will talk about this holder.

I didn't remember to take a grey card to do a good technical comparative between
white balances, due to this I decided use the "Auto" of the Camera Raw to compare the final histograms.

I promise to repeat the comparative to do a better technical review when I have more time and the Benro filters in my hands.

The Benro filter is excellent and have other properties that I didn't mention (either) in this article, like the anti-reflection coating, Lee and Haida are like mirrors in comparative.
Also the Benro have an EVA gasket like the Lee filter and the ND is laser etched font of surface.

In July will be possible to buy the Benro filters in Casanova Foto, I want to say thanks to this shop to lend me this good filters to test them.

Hello. I was reading your article relating to Benro Filters. I am thinking of buying an BENRO FILTRO ND8 SDWMC 77 mm, or the ND10.. I am a landscape photographer and was wondering if you would recommend the above filter(s) for this.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Mark

I sent you an email Mark.

The Benro filters are a very good options for landscape photographers, like the NiSi filters.

Best regards.

Hi there.

I'm having trouble sourcing the Hitech Firecrest 10-stop 100x100m filter here in the Philippines. Good thing I stumbled upon your review because I'm currently deciding between the 10-stop square filters of Haida and Benro to be used on my Lee holder.

I plan on doing more landscape photography in the future, and long-exposure photography is something I enjoy pretty well. In terms of image quality and minimal color casts, what would you recommend between Haida and Benro?
